General description: Square piano by John Broadwood & Sons, London, England (ca. 1800–1810). Inscription on nameboard: “John Broadwood & Sons, Makers to His Majesty and the Prince/ses, Great Pulteney Street Golden Square, London.” Mahogany-veneered case with satinwood nameboard, openwork panel, and blue fabric. Ivory keys. Duocore throughout, with open spun strings in the bass (several broken). Cranked damper system and “old men’s hat” dampers with cloth. Sustain pedal. Original tuning pins. The instrument requires minor repairs before being performance-ready. A large crack is visible on the edge of the soundboard. Inventory number: 3309. Serial number: 27277.
