Context: Robert Woffington (1728-1836) built pianos and harpsichords in Dublin. There are very few of his pianos still in existence today. These upright pianos made by Woffington may very well be some of the earliest upright pianos in existence. A second similar example can be found in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
