Context: Johann Cristoph Zumpe (1735?-1783) was one of the first piano makers in London. He set up his workshop in 1761 where he made harpsichords and square pianos. From 1768-1778 he worked with his partner Gabriel Buntebart, which was the period that this piano was made. This piano is representative of all Zumpe pianos as he only made square pianos.
